Since 1958, Burke & Pace has been part of the fabric of the Central Coast — the same yard, the same values, three generations deep.

Started with a handshake, built on reputation

Burke and Pace opened its gates in 1958 under the partnership of Roy W. Burke and Vic Pace. Roy ran the yard and kept the books; Vic handled outside sales. In 1962, Vic moved on to a new venture — but Roy kept the Pace name, as a mark of respect for the friendship that started it all.

As the Central Coast grew through the 60s, 70s, and 80s — subdivisions, shopping centers, beach cottages and wine country homes — Burke & Pace supplied the material and the know-how that made it happen.

Now a third-generation family business, we're still in the same yard on Bennett Avenue, still answering the phone ourselves, still giving free estimates to anyone who walks through the gate — contractor or first-time homeowner.

1958
Roy Burke and Vic Pace open the yard on Bennett Avenue in Arroyo Grande.
1962
Roy buys out Vic's share, keeps the Pace name. Single-family ownership begins.
1980s
Major Central Coast expansion — Burke & Pace supplies the majority of building materials along the coast.
Today
Third generation ownership. Same address. Same values. Still the best lumber yard on the Central Coast.
